Would you like to help us test a pre-release “BETA” version of DataLink 4? This version will have the latest features, but has not been fully tested.
What is BETA software?
Before we release software for everyone to use, we first test the software in-house here at AquaCalc. This is called “Alpha” testing. We then ask customers to test the software to find problems that we didn't find. This is called “Beta” testing. Finally, we release the software to the public. This is called a “Full Release”, as is available here on the DataLink Install page.
If you would like to help us test the next release of DataLink you can install it from our website. DataLink needs several components provided by Microsoft. If you do not already have these components, the setup program will download and install them automatically. This method uses Microsoft’s Click-Once deployment technology and allows automatic updates from our website.
February 2020 Note:
We are in the early stages of Beta Testing for AquaCalc DataLink 4.3.x. Please Contact Customer Support before installing this Beta version
When asked if you want to Run or Save the “setup.exe” file, select Run (or save the file and then run it).
The following prerequisites are required:
Note that the help files in the beta version may not be complete.
A beta tester's responsibilities include communicating with AquaCalc whenever you have a question about how the AquaCalc works or if something isn't working like you expect it to. This helps us improve the user experience. Don't be shy, tell us what’s wrong and tell us what you want.

AquaCalc DataLink Changes:
More SoftKey (System Preferences Screen)
The More Soft-Key opens up a screen that displays Page 2 of the Preferences. This screen is used to set the number of decimal places and the type of rounding used in Sub-Section Q calculations and output.
Changing the Number of Decimal Places and Type of Rounding for Sub-Section Q and Total Section Q.
When performing low flow measurements, the default number of decimals (2 places past the decimal point) may not be sufficient to properly display the sub-section discharge (Q). The number of digits past the decimal can be increased to 3 places.
Sub-Section Q Output Decimals (System Preferences Screen Page 2)
Press the 1 key for 1)( ) 2 Decimal Places key to select 2 places after the decimal on both the on-screen and CSV output. Use the 2)( ) 3 Decimal Places to display 3 places past the decimal point. This is helpful when making low flow and velocity measurements while use the Metric Units setting.
Sub-Section Q Output Rounding (System Preferences Screen Page 2)
Rounding cad be changed from the USGS Truncated default method used in the past by the USGS and the AquaCalc (where values after 2 decimal places are truncated), to either the traditional Rounding Up (insignificant values to the right are rounded up if 5 or above), or Even Odd Rounding (Even values are rounded up, odd values rounded down).
