Installing DataLink

The AquaCalc DataLink software is used to download, review and print reports of section discharge measurements from the AquaCalc line of discharge measurement devices. DataLink’s main function is to
download section measurements from the AquaCalc Pro Plus. It will now communicate with the AquaCalc Pro Plus and
show a list of section discharge measurements available for download. DataLink also works with older AquaCalc Pros
and AquaCalc 5000s, but not automatically. AquaCalc DataLink is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7 and later.
DataLink can installed directly from the AquaCalc website and can check for updates automatically.
DataLink is installed and updated from the JBS website using Microsoft Click-Once deployment technology. This allows
DataLink to be installed securely without “administrator” privileges for a single user in high-security environments . It
installed into the User folder on a Windows PC. Each user on a computer will need to install their own copy.

You may be prompted to install some of the prerequisites listed on the AquaCalc DataLink 3 Install webpage. DataLink
needs several components provided by Microsoft. If you do not already have these components, the setup program will download and install them automatically.
The following prerequisites are required:
- Windows Installer 4.5
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (x86 and x64)
- Microsoft Visual Basic PowerPacks 10.0
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Report Viewer
If you are using DataLink with the USB connection on an AquaCalc Pro Plus you will need to install the USB drivers.

DataLink CD Setup files
Optionally you can install AquaCalc DataLink 3 using the CD installation files. The current version of DataLink available with this method is DataLink 3.6.
We recommend that DataLink 3 be installed directly from our website by using the link above. If you would like to install a traditional “CD” type installation:
- Download the AquaCalc DataLink 3.6 CD Setup.zip compressed zip file from the JBS
website.
- Unzip the file by right clicking the file and selecting “Extract All ...” from the menu that pops up.
- Run the Setup.exe file in the folder that you extracted to. This will install DataLink 3s onto the computer.
Version 3.7.0 Released 10/27/15
Changes:
- Fixed graphing error in Section View.
- Adds a check for current firmware version.
- AquaCalc Pro Plus firmware version 2.3.0 BETA released to beta testing. (Beta firmware is still in testing, do not install without contacting manufacturer. This firmware:
- Adds Bluetooth functionality to an AquaCalc Pro Plus with the optional Bluetooth module installed.
Version 3.6.0 Released 08/10/2015
Changes:
No changes to DataLink proper. AquaCalc Pro Plus firmware version 2.2.4 was given Full Release status, no longer BETA firmware. This firmware update:
- Fixes a bug with the access and storage of the Date and Time that had the potential to produce a scrambled Begin Time or End Time.
- Improved beep tone consistency in Measure screen. Key press tones sometimes changed.Fixes a bug in The AquaCalc that did not allow you to download Section 30.
- Fixes a bug with Summary Q value the Main Menu, which was not being updated correctly after a change in the Section data.
- Fixes a problem with multiple pairs of Wall Coefficients that lead to the mis-calculation of Summary Total Q.
Version 3.5.0 Released 3/6/15
Changes:
- Increased icon size and spacing in Section Explorer Screen.
- Added AquaCalc Pro Plus BETA firmware version 2.2.4 to the Updater. Note that BETA firmware is still being tested by cooperating users. Please report any problems
immediately. This firmware update:

- Improved sorting in the Section Explorer when clicking on the column headers in the Section list view, including ascending and descending sorts, and sorting by dates by
converting string dates to real dates.
- Added Drag and Drop functionality to Section Explorer. Files may now be dragged from the List View to the Folder Tree View to move them from one folder to the next. Folders
may not be dragged to move (but can be moved using the Move item in the right-click menu).
- Added File renaming by clicking a second time on the file label in the List view of Section Explorer screen.
- Added Folder renaming using folder label editing in the Section Explorer.
- The AquaCalc Pro Updater Tool now includes three versions of the firmware fo the AquaCalc Pro Plus, including a "BETA" version, and a warning if that version is selected.
- Fixed bug when deleting or moving files in Section Explorer. File would be reported as "Open" and could not be deleted, unless selected again.
- Added AquaCalc Pro Plus BETA firmware version 2.2.0 to the Updater. Note that BETA firmware is still being tested by cooperating users. Please report any problems

- Older AquaCalc Pro downloads not longer prompt for a file name, but automatically use the filenames created in the Download Dialog box. This makes downloading for older
AquaCalc Pros faster and more like the AquaCalc Pro Plus.
- Added a File Link in the Data View of the Download Dialog after a successful section download. Clicking this File Link after a manual download will open the Section Viewer.
- Fixed bug in Download Sections for downloading from AquaCalc Pro where Save Dialog box will not open to correct folder.

- Fixed bug in Download Sections where COM port is incorrectly set to the default port after changing Download To folder leading to a failed download.

Section Graphs / Section Report:

Section Explorer screen:
- Added Section graph preview to Section Explorer screen. Shows a graph in addition to text preview.
- Multiple sections can now be selected in the section list and deleted all at once.
Download Section Measurements Screen:
- Added Refresh button in Download Section Measurements window.
- Removed "Delete Section After Download" checkbox to prevent accidental deletion of measurements. Use "Delete Sections" button instead!
- Section List is not refreshed after "Delete Sections" button is pushed so that sections deleted from AquaCalc Pro Plus will still be visible in Download window until screen is closed.
- Added a "Refresh" Button to refresh Section List from a connected AquaCalc Pro Plus.
Settings Screen:
- Added a Tabbed Settings window to cleanup the Settings window.
Other:
Minor bug fixes including:
- Fixed problem with dashes "-" in Section ID causing problems with file paths.
- Fixed problem with "Opening File location in Windows Explorer" in Section Explorer.

Download the AquaCalc Pro Analyzer spreadsheet
The AquaCalc Pro Analyzer Excel spreadsheet is installed with DataLink 3. It is not necessary to download the AquaCalc Analyzer if you have installed the latest DataLink Pro.
The AquaCalc Pro Analyzer spreadsheets can be downloaded separately, it is not necessary to download and install the entire DataLink program if changes have been made only to the AquaCalc Analyzer.
After downloading and saving the new version of Analyzer to your hard disk (we recommend saving it in the AquaCalc
DataLink Pro program folder, or in your My Documents folder or a sub-folder), open DataLink and select the “Settings”
button, and point DataLink to the new Analyzer file using the File Locations > Analyzer section.
Version 1.1.0 - September, 2010 - Download.
Fixed Bug: Fixed problem with large measurements not opening properly in Analyzer. Expanded to 180 data rows. Added capability to open version 2.0 output.
