Updating the AquaCalc Pro Plus
The AquaCalc Pro Plus (APP) has two levels of firmware internally. The most basic is the “Boot” software which helps the APP start, and contains basic time keeping and memory functionality. The next level can be considered the “Operating” firmware that includes all user interaction, menus and fuctionality.
The user can only update the operating firmware.
Should I update the Operating Firmware?
We recommend that you upgrade your AquaCalc Pro Plus to the latest version.
Which firmware version do I have?
To determine which operating firmware version you have:
1) Select “5) Preferences” from the AquaCalc Pro’s Main Menu,
2) Then select the “About” soft-key.
3) Refer to the line that starts with “Firmware:” the format is “V2.4.2” The characters following the “V” are the version number.
The Operating firmware is user update-able using the latest version of AquaCalc DataLink. The most current version of the Operating firmware is 2.4.2 and is a recommended upgrade for the APP. The newest version of AquaCalc DataLink 4 can be found here.
The Upgrade option can be found in DataLink under the Tools menu “Update AquaCalc Pro firmware”.
How do I Update the Operating Firmware?
The AquaCalc Pro Plus operating firmware is user update-able using AquaCal DataLink. There are four basic steps in updating your firmware:
1) If you have not already done so, install AquaCalc DataLink 4 from the website.
Go to the Install AquaCalc DataLink webpage.
2) Download all of the data from your AquaCalc Pro using AquaCalc DataLink.
3) Start DataLink, and select Tools menu > Update AquaCalc Pro Firmware menu option
4) Select “AquaCalc Pro” as the model and follow the on-screen directions.
Updating the “Boot” Firmware
The AquaCalc Pro Plus (APP) has two levels of firmware internally. The most basic is the “Boot” firmware which helps the APP start, and contains basic time keeping and memory functionality. The next level can be considered the “Operating” firmware that includes all user interaction.
Depending on your current Boot version, and your current Operating version, a Boot update may not be needed.
The “Boot” firmware (software) cannot be updated by the user, and must be done by an AquaCalc Repair Technician using special hardware.
You will need to send in your AquaCalc to be updated, and pay for a minimum service return shipping and handling if your AquaCalc is out of warranty. Please contact us for an RMA authorization number before sending in your AquaCalc.
Updating the old AquaCalc Pro
The old AquaCalc Pro has been discontinued and replaced with the AquaCalc Pro Plus.
Production of new firmware for the discountinued AquaCalc Pro has stopped. The last version of firmware for the AquaCalc Pro is version 1.3.7.
New firmware can be downloaded into the The AquaCalc Pro via the data cable.

Upgrading Your AquaCalc 5000
It is possible to upgrade your older AquaCalc 5000 to the most recent firmware version available. This involves installing a new EPROM chip and the case of the AquaCalc 5000 must be opened.

New USGS Standard 2 Rating Curves
In July of 1999, the USGS’ Office of Surface Water announced the development of new standard rating tables for the Price type AA and pygmy current meters. JBS has updates available for registered AquaCalc owners. Please Contact us if you have a very old AquaCalc 5000 that does not include the Standard 2 ratings for information on upgrading the firmware in your AquaCalc.
